The Brainstormery
My Story
_edited.jpg)
Hello there, I'm Alka!
With an academic background in Economics and Mass Communications, and a decade-long career as a producer in the Indian television industry, I've turned my focus to helping individuals and organizations with fundraising strategy, community outreach, impact consulting, brand building, and communications strategy.
Before founding The Brainstormery, I co-founded and ran Indie Meme — a South Asian Cultural Arts nonprofit based in Austin — and served as Festival Director of the Indie Meme Film Festival, which showcased Iranian and South Asian cinema.
My goal has always been to celebrate the diversity within the South Asian community and create a platform for emerging talent from this vibrant part of the world.
Alongside my work in the cultural arts space, I've been involved in a number of independent film projects in Austin, including a locally produced animated series.
With The Brainstormery, what excites me most is bringing that experience to people who are working to make their creative visions real.
We are also actively looking to invest in a handful of indie film projects — the kind with a terrific idea and filmmakers who have genuine heart and gumption. If that sounds like you, let's talk!
When I'm not immersed in the world of arts and culture, I enjoy spending time with my architect husband, our two children, and our very lively 7-year-old puppy.
I look forward to connecting with you and exploring how The Brainstormery can help bring your projects to life.
